When I first started making items for family, I would always get a call asking me how to care for the hat, mittens, scarf or sweater I had just sent.
So now whenever I gift some homemade goodness, I try to remember to include “care for” tags.
Using free clip art and Avery tags these can be whipped up in no time!
Avery has gift tags that can be run through a printer and include the string to attach the tag – tag 22802 is really useful for knit items since the string has a plastic locking clip to hold the tag securely in place.
And the Avery web site has templates like this one to make sure you are successful when printing your tags
If you want to skip purchasing anything to make these, you can cut out a tag from any paper – the thicker the better, in fact this is a great craft to reuse greeting cards you receive.
Write the care instructions, hole punch the card and use a yarn needle to attach the card to your knit item. If you are attaching to fabric, use a small needle and some hand quilting or embroidery thread.
Such as simple way to make a homemade gift even better.
