I love crafting for my family, but there is something special about creating projects for charity.
The first time I left home was my freshmen year in college and mom made me a quilt. Anytime I was homesick, I curled up in that blanket – it was like getting a hug. Twenty-five years later, that same blanket gives me so much comfort.
When I first started learning to quilt, I found Project Linus, which provides blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need.
This national organization has local chapters in many states which provides a great opportunity if you are looking for a group to craft with. I know that my local chapter has workshops and annual “Make A Blanket Day” events.
Be sure to reach out to your local chapter to see if there are specific needs in your area. You can find your chapter on the Project Linus website
Even Margaux loves my moms quilt!
