I’m finally home from my day job; sweat pants are on; wine is open; feet are up.
This is my happy place.
Until I remember I need a gift, for tomorrow, before anything opens.
Since this is a Yankee swap style event, I don’t know who will be the final owner of this gift, so it also needs to be something anyone would like – and can be knitted while drinking wine 😉
With just a small amount of variegated yarn you can create a great set of mug rugs.
Pull out a 1 ¾ – 2 yard tail.
Using a long tail cast on method, cast on 54 st, placing a marker between stitches 27 & 28 to indicate the midpoint. This is where you will decrease stitches
Row 1 – Knit to within 3 stitches of the marker. slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit next 2 stitches together. Pass slipped stitch over the decrease (2 stitch left lean decrease), slide marker and Slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over knit stitch. Now transfer the stitch back to the left needle. Pass the next stitch over and then slide the stitch back to the right needle (2 stitch right lean decrease). Knit to end of the row
Row 2, 3 and 4 – knit all stitches
Repeat these 4 rows until 6 stitches remain
Over these 6 stitches, Knit 2 stitch left lean decrease, remove marker, knit 2 stitch right lean decrease. 2 stitches remain.
knit last 2 stitches together through the back look
Cut yarn and pull through.
